As tradition goes, a give-away is planned. Included in this give-away:
- 3 fat-eighths
- 6 fat-quarters
- 18 piece 6" charm pack
- 1 half-yard
- Dresden pillow pannel
- Cute, bright bag to use for whatever...(JUST finished 30 minutes ago, using left-overs from one I had made earlier this summer)
Some individuals have had stipulations with their give-aways. I've been thinking about this, and have my own idea in mind....
My stipulation: I'd LOVE to hear from all of you about your favorite quilt, whether made by yourself or given to you from someone else.
- Comment left sharing favorite quilt memory = 1 entry
- Within comment: A link created to photo (or blog entry) of your favorite quilt mentioned = a 2nd entry added
As always, please be sure to give permission for others to read your profile so that I can access your email in the event you are a winner. Or, if you would rather, you can also simply include your email within your comment.
Give-away drawing date: Wednesday, August 27, 11:00 PM USA Central time (12:00 PM Thursday for Beijing, China---I'm sure we all know our own time compared to Beijing by now :0) )
My goal is to hear from the winner by MY Thursday or Friday so I can get the package shipped out. School starts the following week, so getting to the Post Office will be much more difficult.
Happy quilting.
Yea, I love being first. I posted about my favorite quilt at: http://superscrappy.blogspot.com/2008/08/my-favorite-quilt.html
ReplyDeleteI assumed you meant quilts made by us. If I had to pick favorites made be other people my brain might implode from the options.
Congratulations on 100 posts!
ps -- pick me! I love winning stuff.
Congrats on 100 posts!!! It is very hard to pick a favorite I have made, most of them I have put something of myself into them and they have so much meaning. The favorite quilt given to me was the first quilt I ever had, I must have been 3 or 4, my great Grandmother gave me an appliqued flower quilt. I remember my fascination with all the different fabrics the flowers were made of and how I ran my little fingers along the stems until they came loose. That is the quilt that started my lifelong obsession.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me share, it has been awhile since I have thought about that very special quilt.

Yipee - 100 posts and everyone a star. Well done on your wonderful blog - it's a daily read.
ReplyDeleteAs for my favorite quilt it has to be this one "Stash Whacker". (http://calidore.wordpress.com/2007/02/19/stash-whacker) I love it cause it used the scraps, my son loves it cause it's his...vbg. it's so bright and cheerful and sooo snuggly and warm as I used a pure woolen blanket in it for the batting.
Again well done on your 100th post. I'm looking forward to the next 100.
Catherine
Hooray, you made it! Well done you. I've so enjoyed reading your blog since we 'met' - really must go back and read the early ones sometime. I think my favourite quilt is probably the one I made for Christopher's birthday. It was so huge, and I had to hide bits of it all over the house and the quilting was a real chore with my old machine, but I love the end result and so does he. You can find it at my 10th April blog at http://scrandasmusings.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 1ooth post. I enjoy all the quilts, especially ones with a bit of hand stitching added in. I also thoroughly enjoyed watching the kaleidoscope quilts come together that our quilt group did. They were like mystery puzzles.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Amy! I know you know I love your blog, and your energy and enthusiasm and your wonderful family.
ReplyDeleteI guess my favorite quilt was probably my Bargello Bowl. I gave it away so quickly that I'm not really positive, but I liked it.

I'll put a link on my blog.
Hmm, remember me? I am just starting quiling, very slowly! So, I have not made on yet. My favorite is from my Grandma, unfortunatly due to health problem, can no longer make them. So it is even more treasure. She would embroider the squares, and then put the quilt together, doing almost all by hand. It was given to me when I was a child, it is of all the common nursery rhyme characters (little bo peep, jack horner, etc).
ReplyDeleteDenise
And, since I don't have an account, hopefully you will figure me out! Besides, how many Denise's can one person know??
Wow, 100 posts already, it doesn't seem possible. Congratulations!! My favorite quilt is the first one I made back in 1977 when my 2nd daughter was born. My MIL helped me and then we quilted it around her old quilt frame while baby took her naps. It was a real bonding experience and that is when I fell in love with quilting and it is still my passion today. Congratulaions again and may you have many hundreds more posts! :D
ReplyDeleteHi Amy and congratulations on your 100th post. Please do enter me into your giveaway which I must say, is a super one! My favorite quilt tends to vary from time to time, but for now it is one I just recently finished. I call it Christmas Beauty http://stitchinfriends.blogspot.com/2008/01/christmas-beauty.html and it is a New York Beauty block, with the layout designed by me using EQ6. I have it quilted now and will be showing it in few weeks at my Guild's quilt show.

ReplyDeleteMy mother quit smoking when I was about seven and she did it cold turkey so to keep her hands busy, she made me this horse quilt that had beautiful horse running accross it. She finished it in about two weeks, but it helped her kick the habit. So I think you all can figure out why it is my favorite. :)

I have lots of quilts I love, but I think my favorite one is my Plantation Princess one. It is the first hand applique quilt I ever made. If you go to the following link and scroll down you will see it. There are also some other quilts I have made in this same blog post. http://craftydianed.blogspot.com/2008/06/i-remember-laura-blog-thon-quilted.html
ReplyDeleteHave a Blessed Day,
Congratulations on your 100th post!
ReplyDeleteI've so many gorgeous quilts since I began this hobby that it is not going to be easy to pick just one. I'll pick out my favourite among those I've made. It has to be my Strip-pieced flowers quilt, blogged here. I designed the blocks myself, I love how it turned out and my grandmother-in-law (who I made it for) loved it! I couldn't take a photo of the finished quilt though - that is still pending!
Thanks!
I favorite quilt is one made by my mother before she got married. It is a tube painted one with flowers and bible verses on it. Then it is hand quilted very close together with diamonds and ferns! It is starting o fall apart as my family used it quite hard when we kids were growing up. So it hangs on a quilt holder shelf in my bedroom!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, love giveaways! Congrats on your 100th post. My favorite quilt is one my mother made when I was a little girl. It is a Sunbonnet Sue with purple background because purple was my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great idea, to get links to loved quilts! I'll be clicking and surfing to see what everyone has to share!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilt is not, by far, the most impressive or most difficult one. I don't even have it any more - someone asked me if they could buy it, I put a ridiculous price tag on it and they didn't bat an eye, just handed over the moolah!
Probably the reason I loved it so is because of the machine quilting - it might have been the first time that I really nailed it with custom-designed motifs and the like.
I was sent here by Candace at http://wraggedypatches.blogspot.com/ . The picture she posted drew me in! My daughters fav colors are pink and green!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quilt is the one as my profile pic. I know you can't see it very well, and Mischief has taken it over! lol It was made by a 79 year old lady who was a clients sister. It has embroidery, fans made with lace kerchiefs, and a mix and match of blocks. I worked with the client for 3 years, until taking a break due to medical needs. During that time, the sister passed on, and the client brought it to the hospital for me to have. It has been(4 years now) and will be forever cherished!

Thank you for the memory enhancement & for hosting the giveaway :)

Congratulations on reaching your 100th post. Considering that we're just coming to the end of winter, my favourite quilt has been my flannel lap quilt, and the most used. Lovely for sitting in front of the tv and keeping toasty warm.

I also enjoyed the kaleidoscope quilts and have fabric to do another.
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeletecongratulations on 100 posts. I'd love to win your goodies - the bag looks amazing! My favourite quilts are always ones that are made from scraps as they bring back memories, good and bad when you look at them. So my absolute favourite is my Orange squash quilt which you can see here http://somebodysmum.blogspot.com/2008/06/time-to-catch-up.html. Good luck with your blog!

congrats on your 100th post... my favorite quilt is an applique quilt that I completed last year - hand apppliqued folk art quilt called "chestermere". The pattern was written by a friend of mine especially for the guild that I belonged to a few years ago. It is special to me because I never thought I would finish a hand appliqued quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have posted about quilts and their history on my blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are those made by my great grandmothers.
Come on over and look in the archives~I promise you'll have fun.
Congrats on your 100th post!
My favorite quilt is one that was made for my husband (with his name and date of birth embroidered on it) when he was a baby by his grandmother. When our son was born, his mother embroidered our son's name and date of birth on it as well and passed it on to him.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading blogs and yours was mentioned by Candace @ http://wraggedypatches.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteso I stopped by. What an amazing give away you are having. My favorite quilt is one I have just finished. For me this is my best quilt (no puckers, matched seam lines and the pattern is eye catching). Here is a link to my blog http://thequiltjourney.blogspot.com/ it is shown on GRRR...Pets while it is still on the quilting frame. Thanks for including me in on the drawing.
Well my favorite quilt memory isn't one that I made...... it is one that I was given. My husband has never done anything like this before........ he bought me a quilt at an estate sale. I had looked at it on the online list and oohed and aahhhed a little... but never expected it to come home. I was in tears........ he's such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteHere it is:

Here is the memory:
My favorite quilt memory is about some quilts that no longer exist. We had several nice feedsack quilts when I was a little girl. I used to love to look at the little scraps of fabric in the quilt. I remember some of them reminded me of pieces of candy, some had figures of animals and people, and some were just squiggly or solid. I didn't realize then that I was developing a love for fabric and quilts. Unfortunately, my mom just washed these in the washing machine and they eventually came apart and were thrown away. She didn't realize what she was doing and so I don't blame her but it sure is a shame.
I probably have more than one. The one that comes to mind right now is the University of Texas quilt I made for my son. I designed it and my friend Liz did a fab job on the quilting. Here is the link

Congratulations on your 100th post,Amy.My favourite quilt would be the last one I made for a friends daughter's wedding. In the end I could not part with it.I had to make another quilt. The quilt's name is Blessings Remembered. Regards Lyn
ReplyDeleteYou can see the quilt on my blog
http://bluebirdquilts-lyn.blogspot.com
my favorite quilt is the one i presently sleep under. It is so vintage looking but yet only close to 3 years old. I made the backing with Kona snow fabric and it is a delight to sleep under.
ReplyDeleteHi Amy, My eldest daughter is called Amy as well. Anyway, Congrats on your 100th Post. I have never completed a quilt but I would love to do one some day. I enjoy making bags though, Love yours. Pls pop me in the draw. Thanks.Debbie.
ReplyDeleteI came via Candace of Wraggedy Patches too.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite quilt is a 'memory Quilt' that I made for the children of a work colleague who was tragically killed on the job 22 November 2004. He was 32 and left behind a lovely wife and 3 young children. I managed to get some treasured family photos to include on the quilt and I shed a couple of tears during the process. I obviously don't have the quilt anymore but I do have a wonderful hand made thank you card from the children. It is one of my treasured possessions....and it does my heart good to know that the quilt is equally treasured by Ben's family.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my memory and to be in your draw and congratulations on your 100th post!
good luck everyone!
Oh OH! I almost missed your anniversary! Congrats on your 100th! My favorite quilt is on my blog at http://bitnbyaquiltingbug.blogspot.com/2008/02/i-didnt-make-thisbut-i-own-it.html

Congratulations on your 100th post! My favorite quilt is actually one I just saw on another blog. It was called Running Bear and it was just beautiful. I hope to be able to make one for myself soon. You can see it towards the bottom of this page http://bluemeadowdesigns.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous gift! Congrats on the 100 posts!
ReplyDeleteI have a little quilt from my childhood, making it 60 years old. When I was 3 there was a time when the welfare lady had to remove me from my home and place me in foster care. I hid in the closet but she was able to coax me out with the offer of a little quilt that she promised to find a dolly for me to wrap up in it. It's yellow and repaired many times, but the memory of her kindness is still a warm comfort to me.
The little quilt can be seen on my blog: beashive-bea.blogspot.com
I'm another from Wraggedy Patches, what a gorgeous aray of gifts you have there. Reaching 100 is always a milstone in blogging, congratulations. Hmm favorite quilt, there's so many so I'll share what I finished last week.

I'm new to blogging, so I don't have a post for my favorite quilt (and I can only hope I have my profile set correctly). My favorite quilt is probably a lap-size green Irish chain quilt I made for my 2nd daughter (who is helping me type!). The pattern had no directions for the amount of fabric I needed or the finished size, so I bought all of several bolts of fabric to make it!
ReplyDeletekathleenzlewis@gmail.com

My favorite quilt is a scrappy 9 patch set in a sreak of lightning arrangement. I love it because it holds pieces of all my favorite fabrics, scraps from most of the quilts I've made, and lots of memories. Sorry, no blog to show you a pic, but sure am glad I stumbled onto your blog here. Congrats on 100 posts!
ReplyDeletemy favorite quilt is a 1940 applique quilt. IT is made from a kit and was a gift to my husbands parents as a wedding gift. It has red flowers. I have seen one just like in yellow flowers that was made for one of hubby's uncles.
ReplyDeleteI need to get a hanging sleeve on it and hang it in my hallway. It is beautiful and has great sentiment
I'd have to say that my favorite is the first one I made. It's a log cabin quilt that I made in a "Quilt In A Day" class. It was pieced in that one day class and then it took me over 15 years to have it quilted! It's still waiting on binding....but I will finish that this year. lol
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 100th! I'd love to win your goodies and beautiful bag!! My favorite quilt would have to be the one my mother-in-law is currently making for our first baby. He's due this October and we're very excited! I've also started sewing for our baby and you are such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing :)
