Ummmmmmm, it's three and a half hours later, and I still haven't made it downstairs. REALLY, I had FULLLLL intentions, but as I was walking out the living room and stepped on yet ANOTHER toy, ...... I .....HAD......HAD IT!
"G-I-R-L-S-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! G-E-T....I-N....H-E-R-E....N-O-W!"
All electronics were turned off!
Brooms and rags came out!
And the living room was tidied and cleaned!
THEN....as if THAT wasn't enough.....
"G-I-R-L-S! These STEPS are going to kill one of us these days! Time to put EVERYTHING away that is on them! AND, the loft and bedrooms get cleaned before LUNCH!"
{{I wasn't patient anymore}}
As always, I failed to take any before picutes, but the afters.......**sigh**.....I wonder how long it'll stay like this????? My job was a simple one. Bark out commands (mainly for Candace, because she hasn't quite learned to find a little job on her own while cleaning), and organize puzzle pieces to see what's what (that's what's on the living room floor in the pic).
The stairs are ALMOST finished....just a small pile of Caitlyn's left....
Once my puzzles were organized, I headed to the loft.....this is how far I got before needing to make lunch. *I* was getting tired, and crabby and hadn't eaten anything....
Here's what left of the loft (the other side)...
While eating lunch (at 11:30), I literally was drained. Maybe some after-effects of yesterday's day in the sun???? I barely had enough energy to tidy up the kitchen table afterwards. SO....my not-so-forceful-barking-command after lunch was for the girls to head upstairs and slowly continue working on their rooms while I lay down for a nap.
Upon awakening (90 minutes later!!!-YIKES, but OH so nice!), upstairs I snuck....
BUSTED! Although, upon closer inspection, they HAD tidied the book section (a bit!)...
...with a WHOLE LOT MORE to go..... **sigh**
yeah, but mom....how can you be mad at me? I'm reading :0) I just got sidetracked while making Candace's bed....
Sadly, Cassie's room never saw much time....
So, is it bad of me to head downstairs now and let them fend for themselves? Kinda the "I didn't make the mess, so I"m not going to clean it" attitude???
**sigh**
I'm sure I'll be bloggin' later with what I decide....
Once the girls have done theirs, maybe they can show my boys how to do it!
ReplyDeleteAll moms have to hop on their brooms once a while.... mine know that if that happens, they better tuck and roll cause it ain't gonna be pretty!
ReplyDeleteAmy this brings back memories! One of the houses that we lived in the kids were upstairs and we were downstairs...if I didn't regularily get up there (they were pre teens, teens by then) it looked like a tornado had gone through. One morning we awoke to smoke in the house up there--everywhere (and fire alarm didn't go off because my oldest had robbed the batteries, but that is another story) and there were six of us frantically trying to figure out where the smoke was up there...it was SUCH a HUGE DISASTER that I remember yelling...we better find this fire because I am NOT calling the fire department to come up into this mess! The fire was a tipped over lamp, under a bedspread on the floor in the upstairs living/bedroom. UGH!
ReplyDeleteMy two boys are total opposites. One's room was always clean and neat. Never anything out of place. He would complain that when he walked by the other room he had to shut the door. --He couldn't stand to look in!
ReplyDeleteWhen one son was about 5, I was cleaning his room. I found under his bed a glass quart canning jar with the complete lid on full of dried mud. That one I couldn't figure out. When I called him in he said, "That was the best mud I ever had."
He knew how I canned tomatoes etc. to eat later-he thought he could can the mud to play with later.
Your life so resembles mine on some days. Sigh, they can't all by idyllic days of calm quilting time, can they? We have our own cycle of messy and clean too. I sometimes wonder why the whole house can't get cleaned all at the same time? It is a fact of life with young kids though. Someday they will be grown up and move away, and the house will stay clean all day, and we will miss the mess. People tell me that it is true.
ReplyDeleteOh, this takes me back. Even the stuff climbing up the stairs (though I think this must even then have been mostly me, as it hasn't changed). As the boys got into their teens I used to leave their rooms strictly alone, as long as the rest of the house was clear. And then, when I couldn't stand it any longer I'd slap a health warning on them. They knew that when that happened they'd reached the end of the line - and my patience - and knuckle down to get their rooms tidy. Now they're in their twenties they're both super neat and tidy and clean. Was it the way I trained them, or were they always going to turn out like that?
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that my condo can end up looking almost this bad with just me and the pups in it??? LOL
ReplyDeleteJust kidding! Maybe!! ha ha ha
