As Angela stated on a recent post of hers----there is a craze for these mug rugs lately, and I'd already considered making one a month ago for a close tea-drinking friend when I saw my first one. And the recipient isn't a reader of my blog, so I'm safe to post this.
I came upstairs to snap a picture and my phone started ringing. It was DH. I didn't even realize he had left WITH girls in tow....he was in town and wanted to know what size batting I needed for Jen's "floofy" quilt. LOL....
Short version: I knew he needed to go to town today, so over coffee this morning, I had asked him to consider dropping in to the local craft store to pick up a bag of polyester "floofy" batting since I no longer keep any of such kind on hand. Plenty of cotton batting, but that's not the request of my SIL.....
So-----I guess now I MUST concentrate on piecing a backing for her quilt so that I actually CAN finish it before heading out on Friday to celebrate Christmas with the family.
Happy Saturday sewing!
Your rug mat is really cute, I'm sure the recipient will be happy with it. It is nice and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteLove the mug rug. The little pocket for the tea packet and spoon are just too cute. I may have to make one for myself. Maybe AFTER Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'm imaging your DH going into the craft store and asking for "floofy" batting. Makes me smile to think about it:)
Love it!!!!
ReplyDeleteA mug rug - what a fabulous idea. Did you have a pattern or made it up as you went. I must remember it for next years presents.
ReplyDeleteI think your hubby is a keeper to get you the batting you needed!!
ReplyDeleteThese would make great gifts...did you make up the pattern on your own or follow one? I'm sensing a tutorial here! I have lots of 'tea partiers'(not the political kind!)in my family and would love to make some for them.
