With all of our activity here-n-there lately, I simply made yesterday a Stay-At-Home-and-Relax-with-Movies day once summer school ended. Therefore, while the girls were watching movies in the afternoon, I made more progress on my Splendidly Marching Along blocks.
Enough units were made to create a 5x7 layout of the 9" blocks; that'd be 34 quarter-square-triangle units in each red and blue for the 17 "hour-glass" blocks; and 36 half-square triangle units in each red and blue for the 18 "light-bordered" blocks.
Naturally, there was some trimming involved with the smaller "light bordered" blocks...
This was the status of the quilt when I turned everything off for the evening of relaxing with my iPod Kindle book. A secondary pattern emerged when the top was pieced together. Borders are yet to be determined; the quilt center measures roughly 45"x63".
Where did you find this?? I think I may have to make one....
ReplyDeleteYou manage to come up with the neatest patterns.
Wow - that looks really good!
ReplyDeleteGreat blocks, and I never get tired of Red White and Blue quilts. Did you make up the pattern yourself, it's great.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is turning out great! Is this one you're donating or one to keep for yourself?
ReplyDeleteLove it! I can't believe you sewed all those blocks AND got the top together in one day!
ReplyDeleteLove how you used your extra pieces, I might have to borrow that for the back of my turquoise and white one.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Amazing what happens when you just play for a while. Love the pinwheel look of the hourglass blocks and the big square little square look of the alternating blocks, just perfect for a QOV. Looks like you are sPending some good boat time with the family this summer. Great way to stay cool.
ReplyDeleteVery nice! I love all of the motion in this quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like fun...good job. I'm gonna have to do one of these, I'll put this on my long list of quilts I wanna make! You know I love Red, white and blue quilts and I just want to make every one I see. I'm going to use a few of these blocks in the RW & B quilt I'm working on now. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your having fun this summer with your family. I love the swimming pics!
I was hoping there would be something in comments on where you got this pattern. I really like the looks of it. Do you mind sharing where the pattern came from?
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy
