Instead, I spent a couple of hours this morning cutting up the rest of my HSTs for Jamestown Landing. 420 HSTs awaiting here, and will be my leader-ender until finished up with Blue-n-Gold Pride.
While I'm doing that, Paul has potatoes on his mind for today. He checked "pigs" off his list yesterday. And even though he requested that the girls stay inside...."they don't need to watch this".... the girls had other thoughts!!! They were peering out the window, watching him with fascination, so he finally just said "Well, you might as well come out and learn something then!" They were pretty enrapt with how the tendons/muscles worked to move the pig foot. Besides, this is about the only "non-gross" picture I took, and I didn't want to push my luck here on the blog :0)
Good Morning Amy, Just have to ask. Does that pig behind Paul really have white stripes down the center of its back? I have never seen a pig like that before and I even live in northern WI. Love reading your blog and seeing your quilts. You are a busy lady and it helps me to get myself moving to acomplish more. Thanks for sharing.

Now, if the girls will actually eat the meat from the pig they watched being butchered you'll know you've got real country girls. After helping in the garden and with the canning and the butchering they will at least know where food comes from. Just yesterday someone who was raised in the city told me that it's really true that the city mentality is that food is just manufactured somewhere....maybe in back of the grocery store. I always thought that was a myth, but guess not. LOL
ReplyDeleteI totally appreciate the lack of porcine pics.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt top is coming along splendidly.... you know... it would look great in Packer green and gold too :o)
I like that they are into the butchering, we do our own too. Got plenty of pig pics of my own!
ReplyDeleteDo you grind your own sausage too?
Now thinking of Charlotte's Web and Wilbur! Blue and Gold pride is GORGEOUS....I really like how that is coming along! And Jamestown Landing too? LOL I am trying to get SMM done before Bonnie gives us another mystery!
