New Year's Eve Mystery - top done; Orca Bay almost with a correct layout

2011 New Year's Eve Mystery
(73" x 87")
On-point setting; bonus triangles used in a pieced inner border
This will be set aside and be added to the Must-Quilt list

While relaxing with Cassie and the movie "Yes Man," I finished up ripping out my orange string placement errors on Orca Bay. The orange "sashing" rows are now completely pieced CORRECTLY! I did not rip out the four Ohio Star rows I sewed oh so long ago now.....
:|
However.....

when I look back at this layout (with the light Ohio Stars in the "center" of the green strings),
I still like it better.

Therefore, tonight, I'll sit and rip those last few rows.

I will ALWAYS judge layouts with pictures in the future BEFORE actually sewing rows together :0)

  2. The border on your New Years Eve Mystery is EXCELLENT. I like the quilt just fine, but with the bonus pinwheel border I am absolutely in love with it. The opposite corner with the solid fabric sets it off perfectly! So glad you were able to spend some time in the sewing room again. It is no fun when works sucks every last bit of energy from your soul.

  3. WHOOT WHOOT! I totally had it on my list to do the borders on the NYE but didn't get to it. That is coming up soon. Orca Bay is farther down the list...both your quilts look great. That border on NYE really adds to it..but don't think I will be getting that crazy!

  4. They both look terrific, and I bet you feel more relaxed and ready for school having had a little time to yourself over the weekend.

  5. love the new year eves mystery, and the orca bay doesn't so much make a difference if you have light or dark in the green strings, as it does which way the orange ones are pointing as to the black and white hst's next to them for purposes of movement in the quilt. Remember it is your quilt, do as you want to do. There are quite a few others that switched the light and dark blocks and it looks great.

  6. Love both quilts! Must remember, the camera is your friend. :) A better friend than the seam ripper will ever be.
