Last week, my mother called to let me know that Grandma had passed away. For those of you who have been followers since my blog beginning, you've already heard me talk about Grandma from time to time. She was my last living Grandma and was the one who moved out of her apartment and into a nursing home in 2007; at which time I was gifted all of her quilting supplies and fabric. This was also the time when my quilting moved into a state of obsession, much to do with all the fabric inheritance.
In 2009, I finished Grandma and Me and gifted it to my parents. My mother brought it out for the wake and funeral and asked me to type up a dedication printout to show along side the quilt.
In memory...

So very sad to lose your last Grandma...less than a year after I lost my last on too. She will forever be in your heart and will be evident in your quilting. Your tribute to her and the quilt made me tear up. Hugs.
I'm so sorry, but what a wonderful way to remember her. The quilt will be treasured for years to come, and now you have it's history in writing, no one will forget
It feels as if there's a bit of a hole left in time when you lose your last grandparent, but what a lovely memory you have of her in your quilt.

Beautiful Amy. An awesome tribute to your Grandma. I am sure she was proud of how you have become an accomplished quilter. Memories are with us always--that is why it is so important to make new memories for our families.

So sorry to hear about your grandma. What an Honor to recieve all of her quilting things. She did a great job inspiring you!
What a nice legacy your grandmother left you. My grandma was a hand piecer/quilter but she died long before I learned to love quilting and my machine. But I know she watches every stitch I make and loves what I do. Your grandmother must have been very proud of you, too.
So sorry to hear about your grandma. Just another reminder to cherish your family/friends while they're here.
