Jamestown Landing has called me long enough...

I fell in love with Bonnie's Jamestown Landing quilt the instant I saw it!!! I searched and searched online for a place to find the Austrailian Homespun edition that had Bonnie's pattern, and FINALLLLLY (with some help from QuiltvilleChat yahoo group), I was able to find it at Ericas Craft & Sewing.

The SAD news-----it was on back order, and STILL is on back order, expected within the next 2 weeks! :(

However, with a slight hint from Judi at QuiltvilleSwap, I was able to get started on the string blocks while awaiting the magazine.

I had HOPED to spend most of the day quilting away today, however I had some errands to do, and didn't find myself back at home until 10:00. And then....I was visited by my neighbor with a pail of cherries, so we visited for a bit. She actually is the lady who took over my Volleyball coaching position, so we found ourselves talking "business" for a bit since the season is nearing. By the time she left, it was 11:00, and the dishes were calling my name so that I could have some room to make up yet ANOTHER couple batches of JAM! I haven't counted all the jam we have, but it's a good thing we have family and friends who enjoy the homemade jam as much as we do. Three more batches, which means 18 more containers.

Then....a quick bite to eat....

and FINALLY at 1:00, I was able to head downstairs.

Thirty-nine string blocks sewn and await trimming. I HAD organized the papers in stacks of 10, however when I was sewing my 2nd set, I realize (too late) that two of the papers were stuck together. 8-) Only 129 left to do :0) Hey Andee-----I'm stringin' away with you!!!

By 4:00, I needed to pack up shop to get dinner rolling for a couple of friends I invited over for egg rolls and chinese stir fry. And then we headed to..........

The Deathly Hallows - Part 2

I'm not a critic, so I won't critique the movie. As a viewer, I was pleased. As a reader of the books, I was pleased. {{However, I AM interested in re-reading the final book again....just to see how close the movie/book was, because I can't remember all the details. For the most part, I didn't think there were any surprises, had you read the book}}

I certainly hope to get some more quilting in tomorrow.
Angela posted today that she heads back next Wednesday-------OMGoodness! I feel like this summer just started! I'm thankful I have almost another full month before I head back. I'm not ready yet.

Almost done!

Almost done with School!
Almost done with RRCB!
Almost done with Harry Potter!

Not a bad list! And once completed.....then.......***I hope*** watch out quilting world! Amy will be back! :0)

School countdown: 8 days (4 this week; 4 next week).

RRCB count-down: ALMOST there! This has been the LONGEST a quilt has ever been on my frame! :0( But a little bit more time devoted to it this past weekend and the end is in sight---literally :0) See that lil' bit left hanging. I just couldn't do anymore over the weekend with Graduation parties scattered here-n-there. I'm thinking one more "good" hour, though, and I can check off the quilting and MAYBE the binding :0)

But clearly....this "slump" from quilting and other things has come from....

Harry Potter!

It's Harry Potter's fault! I suppose, actually, it's J. K. Rowling's fault! Back on March 4th, I started the series for one reason or another. It was time, I guess. I moved through the first few books rather quickly, then.....they got BIG! And time-consuming!!! Reading those books take easily hours and hours each (umm....20 hours running-time for the Deathly Hallows audiobook, to give you an idea).....that's a lot of time! I've been reading all of them with much of my free evening hours and some weekend hours which doesn't leave a super-lot of time extra.

Well folks...I'm ALMOST done with that too! I simply could not keep my eyes open anymore last night, and I was sooooooo close!! Less than 20 pages left....UGH!  However, TONIGHT I will know Harry's conclusion. I can't wait ;0)

With summer nearing....I took a gander around to see what some of the "Summer To-Do List" tasks were going to be.

Ugh!!! I can't STAND clutter! I HOPE to pull myself away from gardening and quilting long enough to De-Clutter and CLEAN/ORGANIZE the basement (since much of it is designated 'quilting area').
Also, along those lines....
ONE FOR-SURE Summer-project: Complete the basement bathroom. Nothing has been started other than a little bit of plumbing.  No flooring.  No fixtures.  No walls.  Kinda like my quilting space last summer.

Ahhh.....a much nicer "non-clutter" picture! I HOPE to make it a daily goal this summer to have the dishes and counter clean and tidy. I am SO bad at doing dishes daily! There are some nights where I simply don't care if they are cleaned or not. **pointing to self** Lazy!

Another FOR-SURE Summer-project (and most likely the FIRST-to-be-done project) is to paint the girls' bedrooms according to their choices. I can foresee next weekend already being when we start and maybe finish this project.

And, of course, we have our ever-growing garden(s) to stay on top of all summer. We have the "main" upper garden that will house most of our veggies. However, my lovely DH has tilled up two additional spots for "extension gardens"; loads of sweet-corn being planned; loads of potatoes; loads of tomatoes for canning. This weekend is Memorial weekend, which is "planting weekend" for many northern Wisconsin and Minnesotan folk :0) However, we will be heading to the farm to help DH's parents with their garden.  BUT,  I have requested to be home Sunday evening so we can work on our own garden on Monday.

So....with 8 days of school left.....summer plans are already on my mind.  I will make it.  I will make it. :0)

Another "it's FRIDAY" post!

Good golly -n- poopers! Time is a'flying and even though this is the more quiet and subdued time of my school year......I'm amazed at how breathless and pooped out I am at the end of days, and CERTAINLY at the end of weeks.

Today was actually a joyful day that was a bit out of my norm; I had an all-day meeting with a small group of individuals. Our goal was to create a draft of our School District's Technology Plan, a LARGE task at-hand. We were successful at creating an extremely rough draft and had just enough time to start performing an edit on the first quarter of the draft. I have been dubbed the committee's secretary; merely because years ago I would bring my laptop to every meeting to jot down notes for myself, which then turned into 'why don't you fancy them up to be the minutes for the committee' which then advanced to a full-blown secretary title. No biggy. I don't mind being the laptop schlepping, minute-writing individual. ;0)

Anyway----tonight dinner consists of a very lazy "mom" meal (that most kids love). Frozen pizza and pizza rolls. Dessert: left-over caramel corn that was made last night.

Plans for the weekend: SEW, SEW, SEW :0) I will also have to fit in some time to grade the assessments that I had my students take today while I was out of the classroom.

Also, I finally bit the bullet and checked-out the first Harry Potter book from my school's library. I guess I'll see if I get obsessed into them as so many others have.

Happy Friday!
