Pineapple Swap Set #1

Holy buckets

NOT Holy Buckets because these blocks are difficult...

no....

it's Holy Buckets because I never knew how HARD it was to find shades of ROR (red on red) and BOB (black on black)!! I stopped at the quilt shop tonight and at least came up with enough variety to whip out one set of 10 (+1 for charity) that is being requested by my swap, but my 2nd set will have to wait until after the weekend when I go to my hometown's quilt shops to see what they have.

But---the first set went together (cut, pieced, pressed) in about three hours. I'm a litttttle bit nervous, because a few of the blocks are a smidge wonky and shy of the 9.5" measurement (less than 1/8", but still....); it wouldn't be a biggy if they were just for me, but these are going to others and I want to be sure they're as accurate as possible. I guess "it is what it is." I'll simply suggest that if any don't meet up to par, send them back my way and swap the ones that "pass inspection." I'd be okay with that....

Okay, time to get to bed...

Happy Monday

The block looks great! I have a hard time buying tone on tones. I need to buy more of them and not so many prints. Now, if any of your blocks get sent back to you, you can just forward them to me....LOL!

Wow, you've been getting so much done. Your block is great, and I love all your finishes, and works in progress.

Your blocks look great. I guess I never thought about how hard it is to find certain tone on tone combinations. I'm sure it is the same story of knowing what you would be happy with, but worrying more about what other people will think.

They are turning out great!! If you need some more ROR let me know, I might have some in my box.

Are you using Bonnie Hunter's pattern? Her instructions are super!

Just came across your blog and have to say I love it already! Your pineapple block is gorgeous. I would have to say that I find it difficult to multiples of the same color tone on tone as well. I have started buying a yard here and there just because. You know what happend then though you never have enough.

Amy,
I went looking for a true red print/tone on tone for a red/aqua/white quilt I've been thinking about. It was really hard to find good reds!

Good luck with your BOM!

I feel your pain. I went to the not so LQS on Tuesday in need of black on black for a swap and found that she only had 2. Luckily, I only needed a fat quarter.
Your block looks great.
