Email education - a snafu

In the middle of the afternoon today, I found it odd that I hadn't received a SINGLE email since  yesterday afternoon, 3:15PM.

???!!!!????

I troubleshooted.

Restarted.  Nothing.

Reinstalled Mail program.  Nothing.

It was when I checked my iPhone that I knew it was something bigger than a software glich, because even my phone didn't show any new emails since yesterday.

Oh, I'm not saying I'm all that popular, BUT I get ooodles of Quilting emails, and there were at least 4 of you who had commented on the TARDIS quilting.  But most importantly... I was awaiting an email from PayPal.  

NO EMAILS RECEIVED.

So.  I dug online.

And (the short version, after a 20 minute online wait and another 20 minute online 'chat' conversation with ISP techie)...

My MAILBOX MEMORY was maxed out!  I didn't realize we were allowed {only} 1024 MB of space from our ISP.  And my mailbox was a mess!

SO, I spent the afternoon cleaning it up.  I was SUCH an email hoarder!  After about 10 minutes of sifting through "I should really keep this email" and "Ohhh, I never responded to him/her."......

I finally just selected ALL of the emails.......and TRASHED 'em!  **gasp**

As an email hoarder, the anxiety is STILL hanging over me.  

BUT, now I'm receiving emails again.  And THAT is what matters, right?? ;)

The bad news---any email sent from yesterday 3:15ish until 4:30ish today.....GONE FOREVER.  

I'm contemplating switching everything over to my Gmail account, but what a headache THAT will be too.  However, did you know that Gmail accounts allow for 30 GB??!??!!?  That's GIGABYTES, people!  

Insane.   

So, if you sent me a 'special' email from 3:30 PM (CST) yesterday to about 4:30 PM (CST) today... resend it?? ;)

Email hoarder!

There are ALL KINDS of hoarders out there!

This morning, I realized.....I was an EMAIL hoarder!

I attempted to clean up my emails, but found myself saying....
....."oh, that's a new reader. I can't delete her email because I want to find her profile and blog again." Of course, some of you probably say..."add her to your bloglist!" (nope, too long on my page already). Or "become a follower"...(could do that, but...well...don't really have an excuse reason other than I don't usually look at my 'blogs followed' list very often---I may still lose track of her)

....."oh, this is a great picture. I'll need to get that into my files someday." To which the response could be.....'DUH AMY! Just take 1 minute to save the file on your computer and delete the email already!" (yeah...sounds great, so why aren't I doing that?? Dunno---don't have an excuse reason.)

At this time, I have 324 emails in my INBOX, 1512 emails in my SENT box (realllllly have a hard time to delete those too---they're records of what I've sent), 1829 emails in my TRASH box (DUH AMY!!! DELETE those already, right?????), 89 in my JUNK box (I DO try to keep that one as orderly as possible), and then a bunch of "organized" mailboxes for my different online quilting groups that I receive digests from, etc....

Email troubles :0(

Grrr......my email is not working for some reason or another. I guess I'm going to be putzing with THAT instead of heading downstairs to work on the bag.

UPDATE: (15 minutes later)---Yeah :0P Back up-n-running!!! It's a good thing I have a web-mail option for my account. I logged into the webmail to see if that would take me anywhere. Sure enough---there appeared to be a larger email that was hanging-up my email software. As soon as I deleted some of the newest emails, my software worked like a charm again! (I use the Apple Mail software---I really like it; much quicker than Webmail.)
