It's FRIDAY!

I'm beat
But thankful it's Friday

We are NOT going anywhere this weekend
Yeah

I restocked myself on the verigated thread so I can finish quilting Hannah's Rotation {{I ran out Wednesday night----grrrrrrrr!}}

**sigh**

But nothing tonight......{{maybe??}}
I'm tired
Want to relax

Oh I dunno----maybe I'll end up downstairs.....

Anyway; if you find some motivation, could you send it my way???

Happy Friday!

A lazy Saturday leading to a motivated Sunday!

I finished quilting my MIL's quilt yesterday, and .... well.... that was about it! I was pooped and really wasn't in the mood to quilt :0( Cassie had a friend over, and I spent much of my day relaxing on the couch, watching them play the Wii and .... just vegging!

So......ummmm.....Hannah's Rotation????

Have no fear!!!
I sewed and sewed and sewed today with motivation!!!!
Ta-daaaaaaaaaaaa

NOT ONLY did the blocks and top get finished today, I also pieced a backing (not a simple solid, either). A pic will have to wait until later....because....

it's already on the frame with a few paths quilted. I'm using a jewel-toned variegated thread and one of my pantos from Cheryl Barnes' Quilting Dot-to-Dot book. I'm not sure I'm sold on it yet (the pattern and thread choice), but I'm sure once it's off the frame, washed and on the wall, it'll be just fine.

GOSH! I'm so happy to have that monkey off my back! :0) {{almost}}

OH! Yeah! I need to post my Stash Report, but I'm too comfy and lazy to head back downstairs to get my lil' notebook. It'll need to wait until tomorrow.

Happy Sunday!

After-post comment
CRAP! Crap-crap!
Look at Hannah's Rotation with a 'relaxed eye'.....

you see those blasted yellow/black HSTs????????????? UGH!!!!!!!!! They're kiddy-wompas! And I'm NOT about to take the quilt off the frame to fix 'em...

Poop-poop-poop!!!!!!!!!
{{**sigh**}}

I suppose it could be worse....

I guess a little snow that will be gone within a day is okay to live with??? Considering the storms that are happening in other parts of the nation, a little white stuff and cold temps......yeah......it's not that bad.

I finished up my MIL's Quilts4Kids Dino Dynamite quilt last night and created a label for my Leapin' Lizards at the same time. They just await packaging and off they go to Q4K.

I also loaded my MIL's blue quilt in the frame last night (around 10:00), and I couldn't resist getting a few paths done before calling it a night.

I should be able to finish this one up today....

....and then.....

HANNAH'S ROTATION!
Boy, can I really finish up those blocks today?!?!!?!?
Please, please, please....

Happy Saturday sewing!

American Classic finished; Hannah's Rotation progress, May UFO

American Classic bound...

Labeled...

...and boxed, ready to be shipped to Alycia.

So, now....I MUST concentrate most of my time on Hannah's Rotation.
The top two rows...

... and bottom two rows
are complete. Just two more rows in the center to finish up this top! GOAL: Finish up the top by Sunday!!! It sure would be nice to put this project behind me.

Nancy (Patchwork Penguin) choose #3 for the May UFO. That would be my Steppin' Out quilt I am making with some batik-ish looking dyed fabrics. Back on April 11th, this was the status of the top...I am VERY near a complete finish with this one; just awaiting a final border and then quilting.

Gosh, I feel good today! I think I really needed this weekend in front of the two sewing machines! I was all smiles today at work; was my normal "cheerleader" self to most of the students who are slowly starting to sense the end of the school year {{sorry kiddos! You have 5 weeks left!!!}}

If I can stay this happy and stress free, Hannah's Rotation just MAY NOT kill me! :0)

Happy Monday!

Quilting Marathon, anyone?

I have been able to sneak in a little bit of quilting Wed. and Thurs. evening this week---Deer Camp (March's UFO task) WILL see a finish either tonight or tomorrow.

...with loads of quilts awaiting borders and quilting right behind it.....

Therefore---I have decided NOT to travel down to my parent's this weekend for the annual "Rummage around Stratford" weekend; 100's of garage sales around the town my parents live in.

Instead---I'm devoting my weekend (or MOST of it) to quilting!!!! Anyone up to the same this weekend??? Wanna join me???

Another project screaming at me from the back burner is Hannah's Rotation. Award's Day is looming closer and closer, and I'm not sure this baby is gonna make it on time.... Boy, I need a magic wand for this one!

And as badly as I want to jump right into yet ANOTHER new project....I just C-A-N-N-O-T!
But here is a snapshot of the pattern my SIL choose for her "floofy" quilt....
and the fabric selection....

I feel so lazy right now though---I don't know if I'll get downstairs to some quilting tonight.

And have you seen!?!!?!? Amanda Jean (CrazyMomQuilts) is back! Talkin' about a motivator!!! I don't know how she does it all!

Okay---the girls just put in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" {{Cassie ADORES the "original"---specially the Oompa-Loompas}}, so I either need to mosey downstairs right away, or I'll be 'sucked' into the movie!!!

Happy Friday!

9:30 pm update
Grrrrrrr!!!.....
I was doing SO WELL with the Deer Camp quilting. Then......brown thread ran out. I am completely EMPTY of any shade of brown.....
**sigh**
I guess I need to make a quick run to town tomorrow so I can finish it up and get it off the frame. In the meantime, I cut some borders for American Classic, which will be the next quilt to be loaded in the frame.

Again, Happy Friday!

BOM guess? Jade's Hearts & Hannah's Rotation; Stash Report 4/12 - 4/18

May is right around the corner, so I spent the morning today piecing together and taking pics of the three May BOM's. All of the blocks come from Maggie Malone's book...
{{see that green $1.00 price tag??? LOVELY garage sale find!!!!}} ...I'll share more information (copyright, etc) once the May blocks are posted. ALL of the May blocks are easy-peasy :0) Whew......(only one is kinda putzy)

Wanna play a guessing game?...
...These are the pieces for one of the May blocks. Dare to take a gander at what the block is??? [[4 white squares, 1 blue square, and 8 each of red and white QST's]]

I also laid out the blocks from January - April...
...(I snapped a pic of the progress from January - May too, but I can't give away the guessing game) ;0)

Hannah's Rotation saw some machine time today after being guilted into it this past week. I informed Hannah that I realllly didn't know if this quilt was going to get finished in time, but she looked at me and said..."do you know how long it took me to color that?" **sigh** She's right! She put the time in to create a beautiful design---I can put the time in to make it come to life. I have decided to move it to the Leader-Ender task---these blocks are soooo putzy! I have another full month before I need to worry about having the top pieced in order for me to have time to quilt it before the "big reveal" at the end of May. The good news: because of the rotational symmetry, I'm making two blocks at a time, both identical to each other. So, even though it only looks like 6 blocks are pictured, there are actually 12.

Jade's Hearts also saw some progress. The quilt is half complete, but these "heart" units are going to take some time because of all the pieces. I've decided to complete them one row at a time...
...the top row of the 9 remaining blocks are currently chained under the foot right now.

As bad as I wanted to burn through some border fabric of Steppin' Out, Pineapple Blossom, American Classic and Shades of Green to make this week's Stash Report look better, it simply didn't happen. Oh well----next week???

Stash Report: April 12 - April 18
Used this week: 5.916 yards
Purchased this week: 27.5 yards (mostly border fabrics)
Used-to-date 2010: 103.272 yards

Happy Sunday!

A week in review; 4 finishes; Bernina back *yippee*; Stash Report 3/8-3/14

First things first----
after another week of mostly NO sewing, my Bernina shop guy called me Friday afternoon to let me know she was fixed. Directly after school, I hauled my lil' tuckus down to Eau Claire to pick it up before the shop closed at 6:00. I JUST made it!!!! With a few other stops on the way back home, I waltzed in around 8:30; too late to really begin any sewing.

But Saturday-------whoa yeah!
Quilts for Kids - NICU quilt #1 quilted {{Precious One}}

Quilts for Kids - NICU quilt #2 quilted {{Beary Precious}}

And Quilts for Kids - NICU quilt #3 quilted {{another Beary Precious}} -- NO PIC.

Then I moved on to Paintbox quilting.....

Family time-out

Paul took Candace out fishing on Tuesday, with his brother and buddy. I don't have a picture of the ice TODAY (Paul didn't take the camera), but we have (finally) had some warm weather hit us since Tuesday---hitting near 60 today. Actually, I haven't checked actual temps today, but I would beg to say it was over 60 degrees. It was GORGEOUS today!!!!! Set up Cassie's basketball hoop, grabbed the shovel and moved some dirt around in the front yard......
(fish from last week....)

anyway......
back to sewing....
Today, I worked a bit on some WIP blocks.....
Carolina Christmas -- 15 more of step 4....

Another Hannah's Rotation. GOSH---putzy, putzy pattern. Very much like putting together a puzzle....

Paintbox - set number 8...

I usually don't set goals for a week, BUT...
I need to label 12 quilts this week so they can be handed over to MIL next weekend. She is setting up for a craft sale the last weekend of March and she is willing to put some of my quilts out...

Stash Report: March 8 - 14
Used this week: 6.569 yards
Purchased this week: 0 yards
Used-to-date 2010: 77.304 yards
Purchased-to-date 2010: 86.25 yards
Net used: -8.946 yards

Happy Sunday

Happy PI Day too!!!!! (3.14159.......)

Quiltathon -Friday Jump start

Judy at Patchwork Times is hosting a Quiltathon this weekend, and since I had the day off of school for our Winter Break, naturally I wanted to get a jumpstart at the festivities.

I was able to get downstairs rather early (for this house) this morning, but didn't really have a definite "must-work-on" project in mind. So I did a little tidying, put away some thread spools, trimmed up some scraps from the recent Q4K's projects, a little this, a little that...and then I spied the stack of red/black/white Pineapple Blossom blocks that I worked on during the last Quiltathon as a swap. Since then, the swap has been completed and mail back to participants, so I played with some layouts, and came away with this as the layout (top left). Two more blocks were needed to finish up this layout and sewing up the bonus triangle pinwheels at the same time, that is where they were left for the remainder of the day.

My day was really a day of a-little-of-this/a-little-of-that. I pulled out the fabrics I had cut a few weeks back for Hannah's Rotation [[will that quilt ever have a different name??]] and started planning out how to bring her design to life. In the end, I grabbed a black sharpie and simply cut the design up into 30 12" blocks. Oooooo.....a lightbulb JUST went off when I typed the word cut. Ahhhhhh! I'm gonna grab the scissors tomorrow and actually CUT the 'blocks' out from the paper. I really don't see any other way to accomplish that design; there aren't any repetitions (except for the 180 rotation). Anyway, the bottom-left and small-bottom-inset-right show my work on that project.

Then I was inspired to pull out the fabrics from the other Math 8 quilt design (the runner up - Jade's Heart). I really liked the pattern, and it will be quite simple to make, so.....I'm making it. The first stage is to make 50 4-patches [[shown in the other three-small-inset pictures. ]]

I wasn't able to work non-stop since all three girls are home with me today, and that my parents arrived at 3:00 this afternoon. BUT, sitting with the Olympic Opening Ceremonies on the TV tonight really was a great opportunity for me to start putting some binding stitches onto Perkiomen Daydreams, which arrived unannounced from Carol Cornfield Quilter last week, but I forgave her due to the beautiful quilting that she did!!! :0) Sadly, my blogworld will need to stay in suspense until it is finished and hung on the wall. It will be the first quilt that I will (attempt) to enter into Quilt show(s). Bonnie Hunter's design is absolutely amazing!

Cass has basketball tomorrow morning at 9:00, so I don't anticipate being able to get to any sewing until noonish.
Happy Friday everyone!

Cuttin' some bright colors! :0)

Last night and tonight, our kitchen table was taken over by my cutting mat and rotary cutter, in addition to some lovely BRIGHT fabrics. The two piles pictured are pieces for Hannah's Rotation(left) (oh, and, still awaiting better name---do you have any suggestions??), and Jade's Heart (right). I'll be starting the sewing soon; not exactly sure if it'll be tomorrow or later.

Tomorrow evening, I may find myself working on the third BOM for February seeing that Feb. 1 is NEXT MONDAY! Wow! A month gone already in 2010. How is your year going?

Stash Report: January 18-24
Used this week: 5.681 yards (cut, not sewn yet)
Purchased this week: 19.25 yards (YIKES!)
Used-to-date 2010: 27.056 yards
Purchased-to-date 2010: 32.25 yards
Net used: -5.194 yards
Comment from Regina:
I think you should be exempt from this fabric since it's school related.

Alright girl, sounds good to me!!!!

nah...just makes me really need to boogie down with some sewing and using!

But, the scary thought: I'm heading down to my parent's house this weekend for ONE PURPOSE: Going to Hancock Fabrics for the 50% off sale on all cottons!!!! Uh-oh!!!

Happy Monday!

No pics, but have been quilting; Math 8 Quilt Design winner

I didn't realize it's been a week since I last posted---I've been out-n-about all week reading blogs daily, but simply never got around to posting on my own.

I have finished Step 2 and 3 of Bonnie Hunter's Carolina Christmas, and have cut most of step 4.

This weekend, I hit the shelves at Walmart to find fabrics for the 3rd Annual Math 8 Best Quilt Design winner:
At this time, the name is Hannah's Rotation (yeah...boring! I'll talk with Hannah to see if she has any suggestions for a name).

pst....pst......I also purchased fabric for the runner-up as well this year, simply because I REALLY like it and won't take all that much effort to make.
I'm going to see if I can find some thin, black, bias iron-able tape that I've seen advertised in quilting magazines. Purpose: to use on the seams as shown in the picture---I THINK that's why I like this design----Jade (student) used a black sharpie to outline the pieces which makes it look like a stained-glass-window. Something new to try.... Tentative name: Jade's Heart

I'm tired tonight even though I really WISH I was motivated. The fabric for the quilts has been washed and partially pressed and cut already. I want to keep going, but the will just isn't strong enough tonight. My back is sore and "tired"---feeling lazy, and may just slide into the tub until half-time is over (Vikings vs. Saints). Maybe then I'll be recharged to tackle some more cutting and pressing.

Happy Sunday!

Weekly stash report to be announced later---I don't have my numbers readily available.
