Christmas is closer every day...

I have accepted that I just maaaay not finish some of my Christmas deadlines....and I'm OKAY with that!
Without getting into all the 'drama,'---life around school this past week has been more mentally and emotionally draining than ever, and.......I've found myself reprioritizing certain aspects of my life.

Case-n-point....

Thursday evening, I left EVERYTHING AT SCHOOL and said...."NOPE! Tonight, I'm making gingerbread houses with the kids!"

And....

That is EXACTLY what we did.....

Caitlyn's class made gingerbread houses on Tuesday, but she was home sick and with an ear infection. She was sooooo bummmmmed! So, I asked her teacher if we could work something out, even if it meant she sent supplies home with Caitlyn so that I could help her make one at home.

Not only did her teacher send supplies for Caitlyn, but she also sent enough supplies for ALL the girls to make one!!! How absolutely considerate!!! She didn't need to do that, and the fact that she did just reiterates the amazing staff of teachers we have in our District. THANK YOU TIFFANY!!!!

The night turned in to a family memory because we ALL were involved; even DH. THESE are the memories I want to remember and have the girls remember; NOT that mom was locked down in her sewing dungeon frantically trying to meet deadlines; NOT that mom was secluded to the dinner table preparing for tests and grading papers (although, SOME of that still needs to happen).

So....Happy sewing. Happy family. Happy Saturday to you all.

Your girls look so happy and they made really cute little gingerbread houses. Life makes us prioritize, and sometimes it's hard, but unfortunately we each only get 24 hours a day. You get more out of yours than most, but none of us can do everything that we want or need to do in our 24. Sometimes it's comforting to know that we aren't the only ones, even the ones (like you) who seem to hit the floor running can't do it all everyday.
It's comforting to the ones (like me) who hit the floor procrastinating, lol.

You are so right, those are the moments they will remember. Those happy little faces say it all. Love the gingerbread houses.

I gave up on sewing deadlines a long time ago. They just don't work for me - just sucks the fun right out of it.

Tell the girls that their gingerbread houses are FABULOUS and look waaay better than any attempt I've ever made. It's a priceless memory and I'm glad to you got to make it! :)

Beautiful! Yes, they will definitely file this day under "Special memories with mom and dad." I will definitely say something to Cassie on Monday about her adorable gingerbread house!

Love the Gingerbread houses. What clever girls you have and how lovely of the teacher to think of all of them. Haven't made gingerbread houses for years but each year we make and decorate Gingerbread men. Not sure what's more fun making them or eating them...vbg.

Merry Christmas to you all.
