Because I want to get downstairs quilting ASAP, I am electing NOT to give a step-by-step rundown of ONE of our tasks yesterday. Instead.....those "gardeny-people" that all of you are out there...... I give you a task: What are we prepping/making in these series of photos?
My job, shredding cabbage via food-processor, that, surprisingly, took a couple of hours to complete! I couldn't IMAGINE how long it would have taken had I not had the food processor!
Cassie's job; sprinkle the salt
Paul's job; pressing it down

I'm guessing sauerkraut.

Sauerkraut!
Sauerkraut, of course.
And that was my guess from the first pic :)
I'm guessing sauerkraut too but it's just a guess as I've never seen it done...Lot of work!
Gonna have to go with Saurkraut though at first I thought coleslaw...smile!
sauerkraut... My grandmother use to tell of a relative who wanted to learn how to make it, but after several days said it had started to smell so she threw it out! Makes me wonder if she really had known what she was making.
Lots and lots of kraut!!! I can see a HUGE Pork and Saurkraut supper on New Year's Day!!!!
Good Lord, woman...that is a pile of kraut!!!
Not sure what saurkraut means. In East Europe we call it pickled cabbage? My mum was used to add shredded carrots and a few cranberries. The best is to use a wooden vat. An the smell was delicious :)
