Two completions

The finishing touches of binding for Scrappy Pineapple Blossom and Seven Shirts Seven Clues were completed this morning.  And since my camera has been hijacked, my iPhone pictures will simply have to suffice :)

AND, being Throwback Thursday....

I figured my Wafer Cookies top had been fermenting long enough!  It was started June 14, 2008; top completed July, 2009.  

A backing was prepped, batting cut, loaded to the frame and half quilted already....

Rainy Sunday - double the fun! Two {almost} finishes.

Forever (70" x 80").  

I indeed did some quilting on Forever after dinner, not before calling my mom to get some label information.  I kinda figured I'd push to get this baby done sooner than later :)  Unfortunately, she wasn't home, so I left a message for her to drop me an email with the information needed.

Simple backing; and by mid-afternoon, the quilt was removed from the frame and trimmed up.

My favorite standby edge-to-edge 7" feathers pantograph was used.  

After checking emails (and a quick peek into Facebook), I headed back downstairs.  No email from mom, yet.

So, what's one to do?????

CLEARLY, t'would be to load up another quilt and start quilting away!

The Chinese Cresents edge-to-edge pantograph was used;  it's a QUICK pantograph, so after a few hours.....BADA-BING!

A simple backing was prepared the other day after finishing the top.  Just like for Angela, backings are my "B" achilles heel!  

Tomorrow, I have an all-day meeting at school and then back-to-back softball games directly following.  Therefore, NO quilting or gardening on the agenda at all.  I'm okay with that, though.  I haven't been away from school a full week yet, but.....**sigh**..... lemme tell ya!  This more relaxed schedule has SO SO been missed!

A UFO, Forever, and HELP!

It was another 5AM morning with hubby's alarm.  Even if I hadn't gotten up at that time, by 6:30 AM, I would have been out-n-about wondering what the big ol' rumbling rukus outside was.  Looks like our road's shoulder is getting some gravel attention.

The weather is cold and dreary yet again today.  Rain hasn't fallen (yet), but....ick!  Still not a day that I can spend out in the garden, unless I want to sink.  

Therefore, another guilt-free vacation day to spend downstairs.

I came across a container that had my Pineapple Blossom blocks, started waaaay back in January, 2010!

Psht!  I thought I could turn my 'math-brain' off for a few weeks!  But let me tell ya, those borders took a little bit of configuring to make them work.  However, after a couple of hours, I have another flimsy added to my quilting to-do pile.  I even prepped a backing for it :)  Pineapple Blossoms - 72"x72".

Next came loading Forever and spending a bit of time quilting it now that my mom gave me the go-ahead to finish this up as a wedding gift.  

And I simply have to put an all-call out for ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS for this blanket!

My Sis-in-Law handed this to me months ago with a request of "making something from it."  It has sentimental meaning to her mother and she wanted to do something with it.  Come to find out, 'mom' had thrown it away after being tired of continually trying to patch up holes getting made.

Well......

I.  Was. Stumped. Then. And. I. Am. Still. Stumped. Now.

She's suggested "just cut it up (to get rid of the bad parts) and sew it together with something else."  (She's not a quilter).  It's one of those fleecy type blankets.  I've sewn up the holes to at least get a start on it.  BUT....!?????!!??  

I have no clue what to do.

Pineapple Blossoms wrap up

This will be the last step I do on Pineapple Blossoms while here at Jen's house.  The 6x6 center has been pieced, and the pinwheel border units have been trimmed to 5".  

We're enjoying the evening watching How to Train a Dragon and eating popcorn.  It's been a fun visit this year!

Next weekend:  the family comes to MY house.  :D  {{Paul and I hope the boat will be fixed by then!}}

Pineapple Blossom progress

I won't be able to completely piece this top while here at Jen's because I didn't bring any fabric with me.  I'm thinking of setting up a 6x6 center, with some additional blocks in the corners to extend the diagonal to the edge (you all KNOW how I love diagonals!!!).  The bonus pinwheels will be extended with some filler white on the ends and an inner white will edge the center.  It will be finished with some final outer border;  something simple and not too large.

Yup... I think I'm safe to start webbing the center together and trim/piece the pinwheel borders.

Ambitious?

One nice by-product of Paul starting so early on their new job is that it also gets me out of bed nice-n-early.  His alarm tolls at 5:10AM, and I have been rolling out around 5:30AM to make coffee and send him off to his work.  This morning, I was downstairs shortly after 6:00AM to finish piecing the additional prepped Starstruck blocks.  My total stands at 52 right now..... that's not really a nice multiple for a quilter.

So....my options:  make 4 more blocks to allow for a 7x8 layout (approx. 56x64 with no borders or sashing) OR make 11 more for a 7x9 layout (approx. 56x72).  

Those options will be mulled over during my 5-hour drive to my sister's house.  For now, the Bernina was carefully packed up, and three projects neatly organized in some totes/shoe boxes.  Three doesn't seem too ambitious for a 4-day stay, does it?  

• Starstruck 2.5" strips packed for more blocks - in BLUE (and neutral)
• Pineapple Blossoms prepped units were packed for piecing - totally SCRAPPY
• Jamestown Landing units were packed at my L/E project - in BLUE (my broken dish blocks are almost completed--ALL leader-ender created)

Visiting...

The girls are enjoying their visit; out in the pool that Aunt Jenny set up.

And who needs a sewing machine? I packed up 4 or 5 different collections of fabric to cut into (or cut some more of). Because....alright....even though I admit to realllly wanting my machine (but able to live without one for a weekend), I would have a hard time not doing SOMETHING quilty!


My Pineapple Blossoms box of scraps was tidied into another 21 sets. With the 21 blocks I've already pieced, this will make a nice 6x7 layout; similar to the Red & BLack Pineapple Blossom from the January swap....

And here's the sister---not only did she set me up with some romance novels, but I "donated" a bunch of mine to her.

We don't get to each other's house very often, being 5 hours apart from each other. However, Mom's house is almost smack-dab between the two of us, so we get to see each other a few times each year and on most major holidays.

Jen is not a huge crafty person, but she did get me into scrapbooking years ago (I've since given up on it!), and she's a HUGE stamper!!!!
This is just one of her organized closet of stamps...

She also enjoys puzzling...
.....NEITHER of these two hobbies inspire me, so.....we're a well-rounded family when all the talents are combined.

Quiltathon - Pineapple Blossoms, Scrappy Log Cabins, Paintbox, Carolina Christmas, March BOM... whew!

THIS IS MY 350th post! 50 more posts and you can expect a goodie-of-a-giveaway! Four is my favorite number, so 400 SURE should be worth something, huh??....

(I even threw on one small border.)

Goal #5 - Work on March BOM - CHECK.
All three blocks have been sewn together; now just to find time to type up the directions. How d'ya like the size of the one HST??? 1" FINISHED! HA!
As mentioned in the caption, I also took 30 minutes (or so) to press the HST's from Carolina Christmas's part #4. Before leaving the machine, I partially began sewing the Broken Dishes units; those are on the agenda to be finished up for tomorrow.

Goal #4 was the only one I didn't tackle today, but I really should make it my main goal for tomorrow. A finish would be nice. :0)

My mom picked up this collection of (mostly) C'mas fabrics at her local Goodwill for a couple of dollars....

And tonight, Cassie surprised ALL of us with Valentine's bags full of goodies. Caitlyn and Candace each got some candy and a V'day t-shirt, "Dad" got some silly high-flying saucer something-er-others, and **I** got this LOVELY V'day fabric. How thoughtful!!!!! (She went shopping with G'ma yesterday) ;0)

So, one more day of weekend for me tomorrow; looking forward to another day of sewing! :0)

Goal setting Sunday

Okay
No football today
No hubby today (fishing)
No #1 or #2 today (fishing WITH hubby)

Just me, my mom and #3; hanging out.
SO.......

I think I need to actually establish some goals today and broadcast to the world----(ie: therefore MUST meet them!) Since 4 is my favorite number, here are four (manageable) goals for the day:....

#1) Sew another set of 10 blocks for Pineapple Blossom
#2) Sew another set of 10 blocks for Scrappy Log Cabin
#3) Sew the 42 Modified Paintbox blocks from yesterday into a top, minus borders.
#4) Finish quilting Now or Forever (Feb. UFO)
oh...let's keep going shall we???...
#5) Sew up my three BOM's for March and start working on the directions (tonight in front of the Olympics)


Whew!!! Manageable???? Quite possibly if I get my lil' biscuits off the computer and get the day started!!!
